Two-Man Game? Others May Disagree
We are now about two weeks away from this year's NBA Draft. This year, experts say that it is a two-person draft with the two people being Derrick Rose (PG from Memphis) and Michael Beasley (PF from Kansas State).
While that maybe true, there are a lot of draft entrants that could make a case otherwise. This draft is filled with athletes and players who, 3-5 years from now, could have an impact on their teams.
Scouts say that Jerryd Bayless (freshman combo guard from Arizona) could be the quickest player in this draft. Bayless, listed at 6-3, 204, is a play-making machine. He is a very good shooter and his court vision is outstanding.
One other thing: He can score on anyone at anytime (proven by his three-game total of 100 points), and he plays with a lot of confidence. The only knock on him is the question of how his transition will be changing from a combo guard to running the point full time.
OJ Mayo (fr. G from USC) has been well known for years now and his year at USC, he didn't disappoint. The best playmaker in this draft, Mayo mixes size, athleticism, and strength with a deadly skill set and a high basketball IQ. One thing I've noticed is that he can get into playing 1-on-5 basketball at times.
Kevin Love (PF from UCLA) may have the highest basketball IQ of anyone in the draft. He has solid back-to-the-basket moves and can stretch a defense with his range, occasionally stepping out and hitting threes.
He has soft hands as well and can position himself under the basket with anyone. However, he is a bit undersized at 6-9, and he is maybe below average at running the floor.
All in all, this draft, especially at the top, is filled with stars. In two or three year, these five players could very well be leading their teams to regular and postseason success.
