Juan Pablo Montoya: Was The Racer His Fans Like, Always Attacking!

al asifyouknowOct 25, 2009

This No. 42 got something going with the fans at Martinsville, he actually made them stand up and cheer when he passed Jimmie Johnson.

This fans really enjoyed someone bending a few fenders, is like they said “enough of this vanilla stuff give me some rubbing and racing”

They certainly got it from Juan Pablo Montoya.

From the get go he made it clear to the Hendricks team that the slow starts, slow turns and the blocking stuff was not going to happen this week.

Apparently the No. 42 team made a decision not to play the game “same as usual”, I think Juan made up his mind that if the Hendrick teams tried to stop his momentum, he was going to move them out of the way.

The biggest receiver of the bumping was Jeff Gordon, and well deserved if I may add, he was crowding Juan again and again !

In a post race interview the # 24 said he just couldn’t understand what he did to the No. 42 , he just didn’t understand why Juan was racing him so hard.

I guess when you’re a multiple NASCAR champion no one is allowed to race you, as a champion you are entitle to the spot if you want it. Is that they way it is?

I guess Mr. Gordon just got a bit of amnesia after the race, he could not remember what he did, he was just an innocent bystander.

Well, I’m sure that explanation will work well with the No. 24 fan club, but that dog won’t hunt with most fans who really watch all the little races within the race.

The No. 24 and the No. 42 gave a great racing show, two champions battling in their iron horse, it can’t get better than that.

I hope both drivers give us the same show next week at Talladega, with one difference, I hope both drivers race bumper to bumper and spare us their belly aching , and yes that goes for both of them.

Moving on to Jimmie Johnson, was it just me or did you notice that the No. 48 team raced a bit conservative, lets just say it in bar talk, Jimmie Johnson was shooting a scare stick.

It probably had a lot to do with Hamlin’s eventual payback for their little incident that cost Hamlin a win this spring.

No. 48 wanted no part of Hamlin, they knew the No. 11 was going to lay some metal on them if they got in his way.

The same happened with Montoya , after the No. 42 happy time with No.24 , I’m sure Johnson’s crew chief also understood that Montoya was not going to play nice with them either.

You notice how quick Johnson gave up the lead as soon as Montoya challenged him, he wanted no part of that No. 42, he was worried about being punted.

This is good, I’m glad Hamlin and Montoya got them thinking, now I hope more chaser get the same attitude and then this could become an exciting event.

I thing No.48 owes Hamlin one and I think Hamlin will cash it in during the next four races, that will keep Johnson looking at his rear mirrors.

Two numbers that are not afraid of him will be there, a black No.11 car and a red No.42 car , both waiting like a pride of lions to jump on their prey.

Maybe Talladega will provide that opportunity.

We can only hope!
