Real Madrid Transfer News: Club 'Really Interested' in David Alaba, Says Father
The father of Bayern Munich utility star David Alaba has said Real Madrid are "really interested" in completing the transfer of his son, hinting a move could be in the cards this summer.
George Alaba, father and representative of Alaba, 25, told Ozgur Sancar of AS about Real's supposedly widely known interest in his son, speaking ambiguously regarding the prospects of an imminent departure:
“Everyone knows that Real Madrid are really interested in David, but we can’t say anything right now.

“We'll see what happens in the summer. Now isn't the moment to discuss who is interested in him. Everyone already knows of Madrid's interest, it's no secret. But right now there's nothing to say. He has to wait and see at the end of the season."
But the defining factor in all this may not be how badly Los Blancos want the left-back, who can also function well in multiple midfield positions, but how badly Bayern want him to stay, as reported by Goal's Ronan Murphy:
The Austria international came to Bavaria aged 16 and excelled through the Bayern academy, earning his first-team debut two years after arriving and establishing himself as a senior regular.
The words of Alaba Sr. imply Real are adamant on a move this summer, but one questions how sorely they need another such elite talent on the left side of defence, given the presence of Marcelo. Copa90 assert the Brazilian has no superiors in his line of duty:
Alaba has featured almost exclusively in defence for Bayern this term at least, and while Marcelo may need replacing one day, there's no hint in his current form, at the age of 30, that day will come soon.
But Bayern's malleable star offers more as a footballer than the traditional left-back. Alaba is regarded as deadly from free-kick situations and not too shabby on his weaker right foot:
Alaba has another three years left to run on his current deal at the Allianz Arena, making a transfer in 2018 difficult to imagine should Bayern stand their ground, irrespective of how much his father says Real are interested.
