Dez Bryant Rumors: Former Cowboys WR Not Likely to Sign with Packers

The Green Bay Packers are reportedly fading out of the Dez Bryant sweepstakes.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Packers "do not seem to be in" on signing the wide receiver and "are not expected to be."

The update comes hours after former Dallas Cowboys tight end and Monday Night Football analyst Jason Witten told ESPN's Adam Schefter (h/t PackersNews.com's Aaron Nagler) he thought Bryant would wind up with the Packers.

Bryant, 29, has been searching for a new home since the Cowboys released him in April. Despite his Pro Bowl pedigree, interest has proved sparse.

"There are far more teams that are unwilling to pay Dez Bryant the veteran minimum than there are teams willing to give him a veteran minimum type-contract right now," Schefter said on ESPN's NFL Live earlier this month. "It's going to be tough for him to find work. Eventually something will turn up. There will be an opportunity, but there are not a lot of opportunities out there."

Additionally, Bryant reportedly turned down a multiyear offer from the Baltimore Ravens because he wants to sign a lucrative one-year prove-it deal before hitting the market again, according to veteran NFL scribe Ed Werder.

At this point, though, it appears Bryant may have to make some serious concessions if he wants to find a landing spot soon.
