Kevin Durant After Rockets Win: Warriors Haven't Peaked Yet, 'Could Be Better'
Golden State Warriors All-Star Kevin Durant has a scary message for the rest of the NBA: His team isn't even operating at peak efficiency yet.
Durant suggested as much after Golden State stole home-court advantage in the Western Conference Finals from the Houston Rockets with a 119-106 victory in Monday's Game 1, per NBA TV.
The Rockets are in serious trouble if the Warriors get better, including what Durant showed Monday. The reigning NBA Finals MVP scored 37 points on 14-of-27 shooting, dueling James Harden (41 points) in the process and carrying Golden State's offense throughout the game.
Whenever it appeared Houston had momentum for a brief stretch, the Warriors put the ball in Durant's hands and let him answer by either attacking the lane or hitting jump shots over the outstretched arms of defenders.
Klay Thompson added 28 points, while Stephen Curry scored 18 and dished out eight assists in the double-digit victory.
The Warriors will have the chance to be even better in Wednesday's Game 2 as they look to take firm control of the series before even stepping on their home floor.
