76ers' Joel Embiid Says Terry Rozier Tried to Punch Him but Is Too Short

Joseph ZuckerMay 7, 2018

Tempers flared between Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid and Boston Celtics point guard Terry Rozier during Philadelphia's 103-92 win, and Embiid couldn't help but get in a little trash talk after the game.

The 7-foot Embiid told reporters Rozier tried to land a pair of blows but failed because "he's so short that he couldn't get to my face." Sports Illustrated's Ben Golliver shared Embiid's comments:

To his credit, the 6'2" Rozier said he wasn't about to back down despite the height disparity between him and Embiid.

"It's just out there having fun," Rozier said, downplaying the incident, per The Athletic's Jay King. "To set the record straight I wake up every morning not worried about nobody, no man on this earth."

Embiid and Rozier each received a technical foul with two minutes, 27 seconds left in the second quarter. Rozier was whistled for an offensive foul, and Embiid looked to get the ball for the inbounds pass. However, Rozier was in no hurry to get play restarted, and the two players confronted one another:

The Sixers' win means Philadelphia and Boston will cross paths at least once more in the 2018 NBA playoffs. Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday in TD Garden.

Especially after Embiid's postgame jab, the bad blood building among Embiid and Rozier may not fully subside over the next two days, so their on-court interactions should be fun to watch Wednesday.
