
Michael Griffin to Sign 1-Day Contract to Retire with Titans
Former NFL safety Michael Griffin, who last played with the Carolina Panthers in 2016, will sign a one-day contract with the Tennessee Titans and retire.
Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official website reported the news.
Griffin, 33, played nine seasons for the Titans from 2007 to 2015 and made two Pro Bowls (2008, 2010). A 2007 first-round pick, Griffin played 154 games (139 starts) over his 10-year career. He recorded 592 tackles and 25 interceptions, including a career-high seven in 2008.

"We would like to thank Michael for all of his efforts and impact on the Titans during his nine seasons with our franchise," Titans general manager Jon Robinson said in a 2016 statement. "Michael's reputation around the NFL is as a very durable player who always gives his best both on and off the field."
Griffin went unsigned in the 2017 season after a one-year stint split with the Minnesota Vikings and Panthers. He recorded 27 tackles with the Panthers in 2016.
Griffin was also a four-year contributor at Texas and was an All-American and All-Big 12 selection.
