Recap
The match with the biggest impact on the standings took place in west London, although many neutral fans will have had their eye on Wenger's goodbye a little further north.
At Stamford Bridge, Giroud scored the only goal in a win over Liverpool, a result that left the Blues just two points behind Tottenham Hotspur, with two matches left to play.
Sportswriter Dan Levene urged Blues fans not to get too excited just yet:
Spurs and Chelsea aren't the only two sides still in play, however. Champions League finalists Liverpool―who could qualify by winning the tournament―sit just one point ahead of Tottenham and have already played one more match.
Liverpool's final outing will be at home against Brighton, while Tottenham still face Newcastle and Leicester. Chelsea will end the campaign against Huddersfield and Newcastle.
Arsenal are out of the race for a Champions League ticket but still gave their fans a good show in their final home match of the season. With Wenger and Mertesacker saying goodbye to the Emirates, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice, and Alexandre Lacazette, Sead Kolasinac and Alex Iwobi also got on the scoresheet.
All eyes were on two men, however:
At the Etihad Stadium, Huddersfield Town earned themselves a point against champions City, who held their celebrations after the match. The result moved the Terriers yet another step closer to a Premier League spot for next year.
