Tottenham Hotspur Reportedly Eye Ryan Bertrand as Danny Rose Replacement
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to launch a £30 million raid on Southampton for left-back Ryan Bertrand as a replacement for Danny Rose, who appears to be on his way out of the club.
David Woods of the Daily Star wrote that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino considers Bertrand his "ideal replacement" for Rose, who remains linked with a summer move to Manchester United.
Bertrand would have Ben Davies for competition if he were to move to north London, with the Wales international having come to make the position his own since the beginning of 2017.

It was then that Rose suffered a serious knee injury that's hampered his chances under Pochettino since, and the Press Association's Simon Peach has Bertrand higher in England's 2018 FIFA World Cup squad pecking order as a result:
Rose's reputation in north London was also damaged by comments he gave to The Sun last summer regarding Spurs' lack of transfer spending, later apologising for his interview outburst, per the Guardian.
The Englishman was enjoying the form of his career prior to that. However, his comments, paired with Davies' improvements, appear to suggest he's no longer an essential component for Pochettino.
Any investment required for a new left-back would likely be covered by Rose's sale if it does materialise. Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News hinted Tottenham's recent FA Cup defeat to Manchester United suggested there may have been some truth to Rose's comments last year:
Bertrand, on the other hand, is almost certain to be on the move this summer if Southampton are relegated to the Championship. They are 18th, one point from safety with three games left to play.
There is a question as to whether the defender would be on board with the idea of competing with the capable Davies, whom Goal's Nizaar Kinsella has said was the best player in his position in England this season:
Bertrand is set to turn 29 in August and already knows the pain of playing second fiddle to someone, having done so for much of his nine years at Chelsea.
The player has gotten to grips with a starting spot in a Premier League team since then and may not fancy the idea of reverting to rotation with Spurs as they pick an alternative to Rose.
