Stephen Curry Discusses Managing His Minutes, Coming Off Bench
In case you had any thoughts of Steph Curry being the Sixth Man of the Playoffs, think again.
The Golden State Warriors guard discussed coming off the bench Tuesday and in the 2016 playoffs against the Portland Trail Blazers.
"It worked, and that experiment is over," Curry told reporters.
The two-time MVP said he suggested coming off the bench in Game 2 because he didn't want to mess with the team's rhythm that it established without him. Curry scored 28 points in 27 minutes in Golden State's 121-116 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr already said Curry will start Game 3. Curry missed the last six weeks after suffering a Grade 2 MCL sprain.
"His knee is fine," Kerr told reporters. "That's the good news. The bad news is that he hasn't played in [five] weeks. So any sort of minutes restriction was only based on his conditioning. So there was no-holds-bar in terms of his knee."
So, Curry will start.
In a word: duh.
