Jacob DeGrom to Prepare for Next Start with Mets After Elbow Injury
New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom will prepare for his next start despite suffering a hyperextended pitching elbow on Wednesday.
According to former ESPN reporter Adam Rubin, the Mets released an update on deGrom's status Thursday, saying that an MRI revealed no damage.
The statement added that while deGrom will prepare for his next start, he will also be "monitored for soreness and other possible symptoms."

DeGrom suffered the injury when he swung at a pitch and missed during the third inning of Wednesday's 7-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves.
The 29-year-old deGrom is in the midst of another strong season. He's currently 3-0 with a 1.87 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in seven starts.
DeGrom is a one-time All-Star and was the 2014 National League Rookie of the Year. In five MLB seasons, he has yet to post an ERA higher than 3.53.
New York trails Atlanta by a half-game in the NL East and currently owns a wild-card spot roughly one month into the season.
While pitching has been considered the Mets' biggest strength in recent years, they are just 13th in Major League Baseball with a 3.90 ERA, and deGrom's pitching is a big reason why they aren't ranked lower.
Among other pitchers in New York's rotation, Noah Syndergaard has a 3.10 ERA, while Zack Wheeler owns a 4.09 ERA. Steven Matz and Matt Harvey are performing considerably worse, with a 4.98 ERA and a 5.76 ERA, respectively. Jason Vargas has a bloated 22.09 ERA through just one start.
The Mets need a healthy deGrom to ensure some level of consistency out of their rotation, and the fact that he is currently on track to make his next start bodes well for their ability to continue contending in the competitive NL East.
