Chennai were made to bat first, and although they got off to a decent start through openers Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu, Mumbai managed to restrict them to a reasonable target.

MS Dhoni hit 26 off 21 balls before losing his wicket to Mitchell McClenaghan, who also took Dwayne Bravo for a duck.

Suresh Raina managed an unbeaten 74 and Rayudu hit 46, but with Jasprit Bumrah bowling well, Chennai could only finish on 169.

MI managed the chase fairly comfortably with Rohit Sharma as the star man with an unbeaten 56. ESPNcricinfo showed how often he's been man of the match:

It's a big win for the holders, who go on to face seventh-placed RCB on Tuesday. Chennai are back in action on Monday in Pune as they take on last-placed Delhi.
