Jose Mourinho Says There Is 'No Chance' of David De Gea Summer Transfer
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out any prospect of goalkeeper David De Gea's leaving the club this summer.
In recent years the Spain international has been linked with a switch away from Old Trafford, and in 2015 he was set to join Real Madrid before a deal collapsed in the final stages of the summer window.
When quizzed about whether De Gea could move elsewhere at the end of the season, Mourinho's response was emphatic. "No chance," he told a press conference on Friday, per Mark Critchley of The Independent.

As noted in the piece, speculation about a Madrid move for De Gea hasn't relented since that failed transfer. A mistake by current Los Blancos goalkeeper Keylor Navas against Bayern Munich in midweek has also sparked debate as to whether or not the European champions will swoop for the 27-year-old again.

Author Adam Hurrey summed up the efforts of the Madrid goalkeeper against Bayern, as he inexplicably fell to the ground and let Joshua Kimmich's shot past him:
Navas has been a crucial player for Los Blancos in the last two seasons, as they've won the UEFA Champions League back-to-back and La Liga in 2016-17. Even so, in what is a star-studded squad, there's been a sense that they would benefit from an upgrade between the sticks.
De Gea would be that, as the former Atletico Madrid stopper has made his name as one of the world's best goalkeepers since arriving in Manchester in 2011.
While there have been many times in recent years when the Red Devils have appeared shaky at the back, so often De Gea is in the right position to bail the team out with spectacular shot-stopping.
Per the Premier League Twitter account, no 'keeper has kept more clean sheets in the top flight so far this season:
As noted by Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, such is his stock it'd take an extraordinary offer to prise him away from Old Trafford:
It wouldn't be a surprise if Madrid did reignite their interest in the player in the summer, especially after the recent errors that have cost Los Blancos in some big games as of late.
Even so, United are one of a few clubs in world football capable of resisting offers from Real for one of their star players. Mourinho will be desperate to forge a defence in front of the world-class goalkeeper for many years to come too.
According to Critchley, United are hopeful of striking a new contract with De Gea. His current deal is set to expire in 2019, although the Red Devils do have an option to extend it by another year.
