George Hill Will Not Play vs. Pacers in Game 5 Due to Back Injury
Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue announced Wednesday that George Hill would not play in Game 5 against the Indiana Pacers due to a back injury, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com.
Hill, who missed Game 4 with back spasms, has averaged 8.7 points and 1.7 assists in the team's first-round series against the Pacers.
Hill received four injections in an effort to play in Game 4, according to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, but he still wasn't able to go for the Cavs. He also participated in some shooting drills at the team's practice Tuesday, per Vardon, but his back is still hampering him enough to keep him out of action.
Hill didn't make anybody forget about Kyrie Irving in his 24 games with the Cavs during the regular season, as he averaged only 9.4 points and 2.8 assists. However, his absence for a crucial Game 5 takes another potential scorer and veteran presence out of Cleveland's lineup.
The Cavaliers and Pacers are currently tied at two games apiece.
In Hill's absence, Jose Calderon will once again get the start for the Cavaliers, while Jordan Clarkson and Cedi Osman could see their roles expand as well.
