LeBron James Passes Michael Jordan for 2nd-Most All-Time Playoff Field Goals

Rob GoldbergApr 15, 2018

LeBron James has passed Michael Jordan in another category, moving into second place for the most playoff field goals of all time, per Slam Magazine.

James had 2,182 made field goals in 217 playoff games entering Sunday, but passed Jordan with his seventh make of the day against the Indiana Pacers at Quicken Loans Arena. He now only trails Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who has 2,356 made field goals.

James already passed Jordan for the most total points in playoff history last season, ending the 2017 playoffs with 6,163 career points.

While the four-time MVP is obviously an elite scorer, averaging 28.4 points per game in the postseason, he is really helped by his deep runs each year. Thanks to eight NBA finals appearances—including seven in a row—the 33-year-old had already played 38 more playoff games than Jordan before this year's tournament.

Jordan finished his career with 179 playoff games while Abdul-Jabbar played in 237.

James is chasing the same players and a few others in the regular-season point list as well, finishing the season with 31,038 in his career to rank him seventh all-time. He needs 1,254 to pass Jordan for fourth place, which he could do next season, but 7,349 to catch Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time leader.

He continues to prove himself as an all-time great nearly every time he steps on the court. However, with fans always comparing James to Jordan, passing him in another statistic only adds fuel to the fire.
