Patrick McCaw Says He Can't Sleep at Night Due to Pain from Back Injury

Rob GoldbergApr 15, 2018

Golden State Warriors guard Patrick McCaw is still struggling from his back injury even off the court.

He explained Sunday that he still can't sleep at night due to the pain, per Melissa Rohlin of the Bay Area News Group.

McCaw first suffered the injury after taking a hard fall on the court during a March 31 matchup against the Sacramento Kings. He was officially diagnosed with a lumbosacral bone bruise but fortunately avoided any neurological damage.

He has not been ruled out for the playoffs, but the team is expected to re-evaluate his progress at the start of May.

McCaw was a key part of the Warriors rotation this season, averaging just 4.0 points per game but also making positives contributions on the defensive end. He ranked eighth on the team with an average of 16.9 minutes per game in 57 appearances and 10 starts.

With McCaw sidelined, Shaun Livingston and Kevon Looney have earned more playing time off the bench.

However, the larger concern is still McCaw's long-term health. Even if he doesn't return to the court this season, the intensity of the injury means the future remains unclear for the 22-year-old.
