Conor McGregor Manager: 'Notorious' Looks Forward to Returning to Fighting ASAP
As Conor McGregor's future with the UFC has come into question surrounding his UFC 223 media day attack, his manager, Audie A. Attar, has made it known that the Irish star wants to get back to fighting as soon as possible.
Attar issued a statement on Twitter on Saturday in support of the fighter:
McGregor was arrested after attacking a bus at the Barclays Center on Thursday. According to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani, he was trying to confront UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov:
It's not clear what the future holds for "Notorious."
In the aftermath of the attack, UFC President Dana White called the incident "the most despicable thing in UFC history." He would not commit to allowing the fighter to continue to compete in the UFC, rhetorically asking ESPN's Brett Okamoto, "Do you want to be in business with Conor McGregor right now?"
Video contains profanity.
Helwani reported McGregor wanted "retaliation" after Nurmagomedov and his team confronted Artem Lobov, Notorious' teammate, earlier this week. White mentioned to Okamoto that if McGregor really wanted to square off with Nurmagomedov, the UFC could have arranged for that to happen in the Octagon.
Now, the 29-year-old has things other than fighting to worry about. While he was released on bail and allowed to fly to Ireland, his legal case is far from over. His attack injured fighters Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg and resulted in three fights being pulled from Saturday's UFC 223 card.
