Nick Saban Says He Won't Stop 'Shop Talk' Show Despite LeBron James Letter
Despite a complaint about copyright infringement from LeBron James, Alabama coach Nick Saban won't end his Shop Talk show, according to the Associated Press (via ESPN.com).
James said the series is too similar to The Shop, a web series he featured on Uninterrupted. The letter to Saban noted that his show infringes on the "copyright, trademark rights and other valuable intellectual property rights" of James' series, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
However, Saban explained that this won't stop him.
"I'm sorry that anybody could be offended by something that we were just having fun with, and I enjoyed it and we're going to continue to do it," he said Tuesday.
While the topics might be different, both shows feature athletes talking in barbershops:
Alabama released the trailer for its series on March 26, noting that the full episode would be coming soon. James' show has already released two installments, with a third one already filmed.
The first episode came out last June during the NBA finals.
While Uninterrupted's letter to Alabama invited the two sides to have a conversation before "rushing into legal proceedings," the next step might be necessary after the ignored request.
