Aaron Holiday Declares for 2018 NBA Draft After 3 Seasons at UCLA
UCLA guard Aaron Holiday is heading to the NBA after declaring his intentions to enter the 2018 draft Monday on Twitter:
Holiday, who is the brother of NBA players Jrue Holiday and Justin Holiday, has impressed in his own right since joining the Bruins three years ago. He finished this season leading the Pac-12 with an average of 20.3 points per game while adding 5.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
It was an up-and-down year for the Bruins, which finished 21-12 with a loss in the First Four of the NCAA tournament, but Holiday was clearly the team's best offensive weapon throughout the season.
The guard has excellent quickness and is one of the top outside shooters in the country. He knocked down 42.9 percent of his shots from three-point range this season, topping 41.0 percent in every year of his career.
This upside is enough to have him ranked No. 26 by Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman in his latest draft big board.
He is a bit undersized at 6'1" and has been inconsistent on the defensive end, but he has enough talent to make an impact at the next level.
Holiday is not only trying to follow in the footsteps of his brothers but also trying to continue an impressive trend of UCLA draft picks. Since head coach Steve Alford took over in 2013-14, the program has had six first-round picks, including Lonzo Ball and TJ Leaf last season.
If he performs well in the evaluation period, Holiday can be the next in line.
