
Scott Kingery, Phillies Agree to 6-Year Contract Extension Through 2023
The Philadelphia Phillies and second baseman Scott Kingery agreed to a six-year contract on Sunday that will run through the 2023 season. The deal also includes club options in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
According to FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman, Kingery will earn approximately $24 million guaranteed.
The 23-year-old is just the second player in history to sign a long-term contract before his MLB debut, per The Athletic's Matt Gelb.

However, Kingery—the 35th-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB.com—is now a lock for the Phillies' Opening Day roster and figures to play a prominent role for a club that has accelerated its rebuild in a big way over the past few months.
Last year, Kingery slashed .304/.359/.530 with 26 home runs and 65 RBI over 132 games with Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley. In spring training, the 2015 second-round pick out of Arizona hit .392 with a 1.141 OPS over 51 at-bats.
Philadelphia will open its 2018 season Thursday at SunTrust Park against the Atlanta Braves.
