Teddy Bridgewater After Signing Jets Contract: 'I Welcome Competition'
Teddy Bridgewater is set to be part of a crowded New York Jets' quarterback room in 2018, but the former Minnesota Vikings signal-caller is embracing it.
According to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini, Bridgewater has a positive outlook on the situation.
"Being an athlete and ultimate competitor, as a player, I welcome competition," Bridgewater said.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
In addition to signing Bridgewater this offseason, the Jets brought back veteran quarterback Josh McCown. They also traded up from No. 3 to No. 6 in the 2018 NFL draft with the Indianapolis Colts, which suggests they are targeting a rookie signal-caller as well.
Per Spotrac, Bridgewater signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Jets, and incentives could make the contract worth as much as $15 million.
He has a vested interest in being the starter, since Bridgewater earns $250,000 for every game in which he plays at least 50 percent of the snaps.
The 25-year-old Bridgewater missed the entire 2016 season due to a major knee injury. He also missed part of 2017 before returning in a backup capacity for the Vikes.
Last season, Bridgewater attempted two passes and was intercepted once.
The No. 32 overall pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft, Bridgewater was once viewed as a rising star in the league.
In 2015, he went 11-5 and led the Vikings to the playoffs. He was also named to the Pro Bowl after completing 65.3 percent of his passes for 3,231 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions, along with three rushing touchdowns.
Along with Bridgewater and McCown, both Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg remain on the Jets' roster as well, although the latter two are in danger of getting released or traded.
If the Jets decide to bring in another quarterback through the draft, USC's Sam Darnold, UCLA's Josh Rosen, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield and Wyoming's Josh Allen are potential options at No. 3.
