Steve Kerr Says Warriors Are Starting to Build Bad Habits After Nuggets Loss
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said the Dubs are starting to get lax with some of the technical points of the game following a 115-108 road loss Saturday night to the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.
Mark Medina of the Bay Area News Group passed along comments from Kerr following the team's second loss in its last three contests.
"I talk all the time about making sure we don't build bad habits. We're starting to," he said. "We're not boxing out. We're letting guys go backdoor. So that's got to be our focus to get back on track. You can't win at the highest level with the game on the line and not lock in."
Golden State allowed Denver to grab 16 offensive rebounds, and the Nuggets outscored the reigning champions 38-25 in the fourth quarter to earn the comeback victory.
After Friday's win over the Sacramento Kings, Kerr made it clear the Warriors are desperate to reach the All-Star break later this month so they can recharge.
"It's painful obviously that our guys are mentally fried right now," he told reporters. "So it's a good job to just get a win. ... Our guys are tired mentally, emotionally. So we just got to fight through, get to the break and rejuvenate."
The Warriors own the league's best record at 41-12, and their star-studded roster is still the one to beat come playoff time.
They'll be off from Feb. 15 through Feb. 21, but they still have five more tilts before the schedule reprieve, starting Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
