Brady Hoke Reportedly Hired as Panthers Defensive Line Coach
The Carolina Panthers have reportedly turned to a household name from the college football world to fill their defensive line coach position.
On Monday, Alex Marvez of Sporting News reported the Panthers hired former University of Michigan head coach Brady Hoke as their new defensive line coach. Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports confirmed the report.
Hoke most recently served as the interim head coach for the University of Tennessee after it fired Butch Jones during the 2017 campaign.

Hoke finished with a 31-20 record in his four years at Michigan during a tenure that included a Sugar Bowl win and something current head coach Jim Harbaugh is yet to accomplish—a victory over Ohio State.
Hoke also led Ball State to a 34-38 record from 2003 through 2008 and San Diego State to a 13-12 mark the following two years.
He is a defensive oriented coach who served as the associate head coach and defensive line coach for Tennessee in 2017 before assuming the interim position. He was also the defensive coordinator for a season with the Oregon Ducks before joining Tennessee.
Hoke takes over a Carolina defensive line that helped propel a strong pass rush in 2017. The Panthers finished third in the league with 50 sacks and a solid 12th in points allowed per game on the way to an 11-5 record and playoff appearance.
