Williams cited new head coach Jimbo Fisher and defensive coordinator Mike Elko as major reasons for his decision to join the Aggies.

"Just Jimbo and and Elko and everyone made it the perfect fit and they have an amazing engineering program as well," he told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.

Elko didn't hide his excitement regarding Sunday's news:

Former Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel also chimed in:

Williams is now the top player in Texas A&M's class of 2019, joining 4-star pro-style quarterback Grant Gunnell as the early highlights of that group. That class is currently ranked No. 11 by 247Sports.

As Wiltfong noted, Williams is Texas A&M's first 5-star recruit at defensive back and first 5-star addition in general since the 2015 season. He's been productive in his high school career. Between the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Williams registered 118 tackles (seven for loss), 13 interceptions and six pass breakups.

His upside is immense.

"[Williams] has a well-rounded skill set," Greg Powers of Scout.com noted of Williams in his scouting report of the player in September. "He is a guy who can come downhill and blow up the run game, but he is also a tremendous cover guy. He can turn and run with receivers like a corner, but has the size of a safety. He is only going to get better with time..."

Before settling on the Aggies, Williams had offers from a number of schools, including Notre Dame, Texas, LSU, Oklahoma and Stanford.
