Eli Rogers Reportedly Underwent Successful Surgery on Knee Injury

Tim DanielsJan 20, 2018

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Eli Rogers reportedly underwent knee surgery this week after suffering a torn ACL in the team's 45-42 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC divisional round.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the procedure took place Wednesday, three days after the Steelers were eliminated from the playoffs.

Rogers suffered the injury in the fourth quarter after catching five passes for 42 yards.

The 25-year-old Miami native posted a message on social media after the game:

He finished the regular season with 18 receptions for 149 yards and one touchdown—disappointing production after he made 48 grabs for 594 yards and three scores in 2016.

Rogers missed the 2015 campaign with a foot injury after he signed with Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Louisville.

This latest setback creates uncertainty about his future with the organization, as he's scheduled to become a restricted free agent when the new league year begins in March.

Though he showed promise two years ago, he was the fourth option behind Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Martavis Bryant in the receiver pecking order this season. It's also unclear when he could return in 2018.
