News Anchor Offers to Fight Nipsey Hussle over Comments on Diddy Owning Panthers

Tim DanielsDec 22, 2017

KRON sports anchor Henry Wofford is offering to fight Nipsey Hussle for charity after the rapper called him out for downplaying Sean "Diddy" Combs' chances of buying the NFL's Carolina Panthers.

TMZ Sports passed along Hussle's comments Tuesday. Wofford‏ responded on social media Friday with a peace offering to help raise money.

"I saw you on TMZ saying you'll beat me down when you see me," he wrote on Twitter. "Here's your opportunity. I'm old school and only fight for a cause. Let's raise money for the Black Community. We can box or go MMA style in a celebrity fight. Hug when it's over. Let me know time and place."

The San Francisco-based sportscaster added: "Don't reduce the conversation to name calling and painting a false picture. Anyone who knows me know I'm down for my community. I've heard you chirping for four days now. Pick a charity and let's do this. I love you my brother. No hate at all for you."

On Sunday, Panthers owner Jerry Richardson announced his intention to sell the franchise following the 2017 season amid an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment.

Diddy responded to the news with a Twitter post that went viral:

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick also expressed interest in joining the rap mogul's potential bidding group.

"I want in on the ownership group! Let's make it happen!" he wrote on Twitter.

Golden State Warriors superstar guard Stephen Curry also said he wanted in.

Wofford drew criticism Monday for the way he suggested Diddy's efforts shouldn't be taken seriously, per Carl Lamarre of Billboard.

"The guy looks high right there in this video," Wofford said. "He looks like he smoked a blunt and drank a 40. Come on, I'm not taking him seriously."

Zack O'Malley Greenburg of Forbes listed Diddy's net worth at $820 million in May.
