When asked about his skills on the different court, via Crossing Broad's Kevin Kinkead and Kyle Scott, the 23-year-old jokingly—at least one would hope and could reasonably assume given his sense of humor—compared himself to a 19-time Grand Slam winner.
"It's really good," Embiid said of his tennis abilities. "I'm a really good server. They call me the black Roger Federer."
Embiid was barely old enough to hold a tennis racket when Federer made his professional debut nearly 20 years ago. By the time the center started playing organized basketball in 2011, the tennis icon had already won 15 major tournaments.
Federer has notched more career victories (1,119) than Embiid has NBA minutes played (786), but the rising 76ers star knows that achieving greatness is a process.
