Damian Lillard Expresses Interest in Rap and Shoe Collaboration with Kanye West
Damian Lillard has expanded his brand beyond basketball, releasing his debut rap album last October. As the Portland Trail Blazers star recruits Carmelo Anthony for an on-court collaboration, per ESPN.com's Adrian Wojnarowski, he discussed another potential high-profile partnership with Kanye West.
Asked about working with the rapper and fellow Adidas partner in an interview with SLAM Magazine's Drew Ruiz, the point guard left the door open for a star-studded business arrangement.
"Definitely," Lillard said. "I think with us both doing music and him obviously being who he is and also being with Adidas and having a shoe line, I think it'd be a cold collaboration if we did music together and a shoe together. That'll be real cool to do."
Lillard, who worked with Lil Wayne, Juvenile and Jamie Foxx on The Letter O, also listed Andre 3000, Nas, Eminem and Jay-Z as some of his favorite artists.
As Complex Sports' Omar Burgess noted, Lillard did not use Adidas' Boost technology in his Dame 3 sneakers to limit the footwear's cost. West's Yeezy Boost 350 shoes run for $200 and up in retail, with some selling for over $2,000 on the open market.
