It was Ledecky's fifth gold medal of the 2017 Word Championships and her 14th overall. The latter is already a record in women's competitive swimming, a remarkable feat given the fact she's still just 20 years old.
As shared by SwimSwam, Ledecky might have some serious competition in the 800-metre freestyle event in the near future, however:
The event is one of Ledecky's best, as she holds the world and Olympic record time of 8:04.79. Her first gold medal at the Olympics came in the 800-metre freestyle back in 2012.
Li matched pace with Ledecky quite well on Saturday, winning her second silver medal. The 15-year-old previously won the bronze in the 400 metres and impressed with the Chinese team that won silver in the 4x200-metre freestyle.

The teenager has a huge future ahead of her and could be a real threat to Ledecky's dominance at the 2020 Olympics. Ledecky was beaten in a major international final for the first time on Wednesday, losing the gold medal to Italy's Federica Pellegrini in the 200-metre freestyle.
Lea Smith beat Li to silver in the 400-metre freestyle but came up short on Saturday, settling for bronze.
