Sebastian Tretola Released by Titans, Was Grazed by Bullet on Sunday

Mike ChiariJul 28, 2017

The Tennessee Titans announced Friday that they waived guard Sebastian Tretola in order to make room for veteran linebacker Erik Walden and guard Jake Simonich on the roster.

According to ESPN.com's Cameron Wolfe, Tretola suffered a minor gunshot wound on Sunday, and the Titans released a statement on the matter: "We are aware of the reports that Sebastian received treatment for a wound when he was grazed by a bullet. He has been released from the hospital and is thankful for only a minor injury."

There is no indication Tretola was released due to the shooting.

Charity Chambers of KNWA reported the shooting occurred outside a bar in Fayetteville, Arkansas, after Tretola and the shooting suspect got into an argument.

Tretola suffered a gunshot wound near the ankle, while another man was shot in the leg.

Tennessee selected Tretola in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL draft out of Arkansas, and he appeared in one game as a rookie last season.

Tretola and Titans wide receiver Tajae Sharpe were accused of assaulting a man in April. The man filed a lawsuit against them, but they countersued earlier this month and said they were acting in self-defense, per WKRN.

No criminal charges have been brought against Tretola or Sharpe.

Tretola had been penciled in as the Titans' backup left guard behind Quinton Spain, and his spot is likely to be filled by Simonich, Josue Matias or rookie sixth-round pick Corey Levin.
