Edwin Encarnacion Surpasses 1,000 RBI in Grand Fashion
Cleveland Indians designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion cranked a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 11th inning off Los Angeles Angels closer Bud Norris to give the team an 11-7 victory Tuesday.
Encarnacion's grand slam was the team's second of the night and the slugger's 10th of his career, which also pushed him past 1,000 career RBI, per Sportsnet Stats.
The 34-year-old Dominican Republic native is no stranger to the long ball, launching 42 last season and hitting 34 or more in each of the last five seasons. He's well on the way to hitting that total for a sixth consecutive campaign, having produced 21 through 96 games this season.

Tuesday's walk-off round-tripper was just the second of the grand slam variety during the 2017ย season, per ESPN Stats & Info. St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Matt Carpenter hit the other in April.
Thanks to Encarnacion's homer, the Indians extended their winning streak to five straight games. It also served to keep the club 1.5 games ahead of the Kansas City Royals, who won their seventh consecutive contest Tuesday in Detroit.
Cleveland takes the field Wednesday for the second of a three-game set against the Angels. In an attempt to extend the winning streak to six, the team sends Carlos Carrasco to the mound. Los Angeles will counter with Ricky Nolasco, hoping to draw within two games of the .500 mark.
