Grayson Allen 'Fully Recovered' from Ankle Surgery, Per Mike Krzyzewski
Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski revealed Grayson Allen had ankle surgery following the 2016-17 season.
"We had him away from basketball for about three months," Krzyzewski said an interview with ESPN's Seth Greenberg (h/t College Basketball Talk's Rob Dauster). "He had a minor operation on his ankle. He's now fully recovered, so his athleticism is back. He's happy, he's in shape and he's sharing that."
The ankle injury helps explain Allen's relatively underwhelming season. His scoring average dropped from 21.6 points per game as a sophomore to 14.5 points per game as a junior. His three-point shooting also took a step backward, from 41.7 percent in 2015-16 to 36.5 percent a year ago.

Allen's ankle being 100 percent again is good news for a Blue Devils team that has to replace Jayson Tatum, Luke Kennard, Harry Giles, Amile Jefferson and Frank Jackson.
Duke is bringing in the second-best recruiting class in the country, per Scout, which includes 5-star talents Gary Trent, Wendell Carter and Trevon Duval. Still, Allen's experience and talent will be invaluable for a team with aspirations of making a deep run in the NCAA tournament.
