Donald Trump Reportedly Threatened Lawsuit If USGA Moved 2017 US Women's Open
Donald Trump reportedly threatened legal action against the U.S. Golf Association if it moved this year's U.S. Women's Open from Trump National Golf Club in Bedminister, New Jersey, USA Today's Christine Brennan reported Monday.
According to Brennan, USGA executive director Mike Davis informed the group's executive committee of the threat two years ago. Davis reportedly said the USGA "can't get out of this" and that Trump was "going to sue us" if the USGA made a switch.
At the time, Trump's presidential campaign was in its infancy.

"More than anything, it was very pre-emptive, before the storm if he did get elected president," a source said to Brennan. "We were starting to get some pressure and so it was brought up and he said he would sue us if we moved it."
Davis neither confirmed nor denied the story in a comment given to Brennan.
The tournament tees off Thursday. The Palm Beach Post's Kristina Webb reported President Trump could be in attendance. Webb pointed to an alert from the Federal Aviation Administration restricting the use of the airspace above Bedminster, as well as Morristown and Newark, New Jersey.
In May, Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, hosted the Senior PGA Championship. It was the first major tournament held at one of Trump's courses since he assumed office in January.
