Erik BeastonJul 9, 2017

For the first time ever Sunday night, WWE presented a Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view, live from Dallas' American Airlines Center. The show, headlined by Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe for the Universal Championship and Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman in an Ambulance match, had fans across Twitter buzzing about the night's most memorable stars and moments.

From a rare Bray Wyatt victory in the night's opening match to the titanic championship clash that headlined the broadcast, the WWE Universe weighed in on the Show of the Year contender across the popular social media platform.

Which were the hottest topics of the night?

Brock Lesnar Wins The Match, Samoa Joe Wins the Night

There was little doubt that Lesnar was going to retain the Universal Championship against Joe Sunday night. The concern was that Joe may be another helpless victim in a long line of them.

That was not the case as Joe dominated the match, only to fall prey to a desperation F-5 that spelled the end for The Destroyer. Twitter buzzed about the manner in which Joe was booked, analyzing what it means for him going forward.

Hall of Famer Jim Ross, hardcore icon Tommy Dreamer and former longtime referee Jimmy Korderas added expert takes on the match.

Bleacher Report's Chris Mueller had a different take on the match, one that did not quite follow in line with the rest of the pack.

This writer had his own take on the outcome of the match.

On a lighter note, analyst Sean Ross Sapp, B/R's Steven Rondina and film director Max Landis pointed out a nice bit of continuity in relation to Joe's low blow of Lesnar midway through the match.

Regardless of where one falls in the argument, one cannot deny Joe, himself, rose to the occasion. He followed up a month of superb booking and television angles with one of his strongest performances of his WWE career to date.

Braun Strowman Is Unstoppable

Strowman defeated Roman Reigns in the Ambulance match Sunday night, using Reigns' own momentum against him to secure the victory. Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin had fun with the moment.

Then things turned serious.

After losing fair and square, Reigns stuffed Strowman in the ambulance, drove it to the back of the arena and proceeded to wreck it into a tour bus. Twitter had a more-than-interesting take on the heelish actions of The Big Dog.

More so than Reigns coming across like a total villain was the manner in which Strowman was booked to resemble a huge babyface with an unbreakable will. Promoter and analyst David Herro and writer Justin Henry confirmed as much.

As did B/R WWE lead writer Ryan Dilbert.

Alfred Konuwa had a very simple, logical question he sought answers to.

WhatCulture's Adam Blampied questioned how Reigns can possibly remain a babyface after Sunday.

Las Vegas Fight Shop and this writer echoed each other's sentiments.

There is a great deal of gravity to Dilbert's argument.

For a guy who is routinely positioned as the top babyface in all of WWE, attempting vehicular homicide on another human being simply because he outsmarted you probably is not the best way to generate fan support.

And Strowman comes out of the ordeal looking like an unstoppable force, a sympathetic monster who survived the heinous, uncalled for onslaught of a spoiled brat. If WWE Creative does not execute the double-turn come Monday night, the illogicality of the entire ordeal is enhanced exponentially.
