New York Mets center fielder Brandon Nimmo was placed on the disabled list Saturday with a partially collapsed lung, per James Wagner of the New York Times.

Nimmo hasn't appeared in a game since going 3-for-4 in a loss to the Washington Nationals on Tuesday. The team is reportedly unaware of how the injury occurred.
While he has played sparingly since being recalled to the majors June 16, the 24-year-old has been outstanding when given a chance. In 24 plate appearances across 15 games, he has a .350 batting average and .458 on-base percentage.
Nimmo hit .274 with one home run in 32 games last season in his only other stretch of major league play.
Though the Mets will hope he can return quickly, they already have plenty of options to fill the outfield spots while Nimmo is unavailable. Conforto is the team's lone All-Star and should get regular at-bats along with Yoenis Cespedes. Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce should rotate into the lineup as well.
