Bayern Munich Transfer News: Douglas Costa Deal 'Imminent,' Arturo Vidal Rumours
Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa is reportedly on the verge of completing an "imminent"ย summer transfer to Juventus. Elsewhere, it's been reported Arturo Vidal has rejected a big-money move to Inter Milan.
Football Italia cited a variety of Italian outlets that reported Costa's move was close to completion, noting German broadcaster Sky Sport Deutschland confirmed the deal is almost done.
There are, however, "disagreements over the price" still, with the Bianconeri keen on loaning the player for two years with an option to buy in 2019 in order to spread out some of the outlay.
Costa was a major success in his first season at the Allianz Arena, but he slipped down the Bayern totem under his successor, Carlo Ancelotti, last season. That being said, the Brazilian has still proved himself to be an elite talent, as evidenced by Squawka:
The two-year loan is said to be valued at โฌ10 million (ยฃ8.8 million), while the purchase option would reportedly cost Juve between โฌ35 million (ยฃ30.9 million) and โฌ40 million (ยฃ35.4 million), plus add-ons.
Goal's Sam Lee explained the Italian titans will only be permitted to add one more non-EU player to their ranks as things stand this summer, opting to use that spot in order to recruit speedy winger Costa:
But Die Roten are said to be holding out forย โฌ50 million (ยฃ44 million) in order to sell their wing wizard, who scored seven goals and recorded nine assists in 19 starts across all competitions last season.
Another of Bayern's prized possessions could draw more attention this summer, meanwhile, following reports Vidal has turned down aย โฌ57 million (ยฃ50.4 million) move to Inter out of respect for former club Juventus.
That's according to Chilean newspaperย El Mercurioย (h/t Football Italia), which said Vidal wouldn't feel at ease going up against the team that provided the launchpad for him to make his leap into European football's hierarchy.
Former Bayer Leverkusen destroyer Vidal is regarded as a vital cog in Bayern's midfield at present, and Squawka's Greg Johnson recently nodded at the South American as a master of his craft:
The 30-year-old moved to Bavaria from Turin in the summer of 2015 and has another two years left to run on his current contract, although he looks set to accept a pay cut and extend that deal, per Football Italia.
Juventus will feel happy in the knowledge they won't have to face their old talisman on the domestic scene, while Inter are forced to return to the drawing board in their efforts to recruit a similar maestro in midfield.
