Enzo Amore's Future as a Solo Act on The Line in Big Cass WWE Raw Feud
Enzo Amore was not supposed to strike a nerve.
The recent split between Amore and Big Colin Cassady was supposed to be more about the 7-foot Superstar than his little buddy. Cass has the size, the strength and the main event potential. This was supposed to have been about elevating Cass and showing fans what he's capable of.
But then Amore burned Cass to the ground with one promo.

That promo came on the July 3 edition of Monday Night Raw, as The Certified G opened the program with a live mic in the middle of the ring. Fans expected him to talk about Cass, and he did. They also expected him to run his mouth about how Cass hurt him, and he did that as well.
Then Amore kept talking, and not-so-subtly reminded everyone that he was the mouth, and the personality, behind the team. With one promo, Amore established himself not as the victim, but as the aggressor.
Amore has more to offer than fans perhaps even realized, which is a good thing if he's to come out of this storyline on his feet. Cass' solo potential has been evident from the start, if only because of his physical size. The WWE was known as the land of the giants at one time, and perhaps still is in the eyes of many fans.
Why wouldn't Cass eventually get a shot at solo stardom? Wasn't that a foregone conclusion?
But Cass is not the only one in this feud. Amore has a lot to prove for his own solo career, and the shot he fired with his July 3 promo was pitch perfect. When he jumped Cass backstage after that promo, he proved his fearlessness.
Amore has been down before, and he has nothing to lose now. That's a dangerous combination for Cass, who likely believed winning this feud was also a foregone conclusion.
The key for Amore is the booking. He and Big Cass will face off at Great Balls of Fire on July 9, and it's crucial that the match gets both men over. The chemistry between them made the team a success with fans, and the same chemistry will make them compelling opponents.
They will give more, they will work harder, and they will leave it all in the ring.
The crowd will know that this is personal and that a lot of heart is being put into the match. It's all about pride, and the knowledge that the bout will be heavily scrutinized by anyone believing Amore is nothing but a stepping stone.
He's had a good start, but Amore has a lot of work left to do. That work must be done at GBOF.

The match itself should end in a brawl, a no-contest, a double count-out, anything that would result in Amore not being left for dead. If Cass comes in and squashes his former partner, then Amore may not be able to recover.
Amore does not have the physical size, and his solo potential has always been in question. But now he has a chance, and it's up to the WWE to get it right.
It will not be the first time a smaller guy has a chance to do big things in the WWE.
Rey Mysterio is the best example of what happens when a talented Superstar gets an opportunity because he's earned it. Mysterio didn't look like a main event powerhouse. He didn't have the classic WWE frame, and he never gave the vibe of being a world champion.
But the WWE disagreed. The company also disagreed when it came to Daniel Bryan, whose WrestleMania 30 run remains one of the most popular in recent WWE history. Is Amore destined to reach world-title status? Maybe; maybe not.
However, he does have a shot, and that's all any WWE Superstar can ask for.
His promo skills put him a cut above a lot of other guys around him. He can talk a streak, and once he gets going, it's difficult for anyone to hang with him. His ring game may not be that of Seth Rollins or Finn Balor, but he's more than capable and fundamentally sound.
But when it comes to character, Amore has already won.
He knows who he is and what he can do. He's comfortable in his own skin, and he's immersed in the moment. When the camera is on him, he's ready to go. He's as prepared as anyone can be for the rivalry that's to come.
Cass' future success may not be in doubt, but Amore's is. The real test of what he can do, and what the WWE is willing to do with him as a result, will come in time. Amore may or may not reach the heights of the industry, but he could become one of the most entertaining, most popular solo acts that fans have ever seen.
He wasn't supposed to have gotten this far, but now there may be no limit as to how far he can go.
