Kylian Mbappe Meeting Reportedly Held by 'Optimistic' PSG Amid Madrid Rumours
Paris Saint-Germain officials have sat down for talks with AS Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe, and the capital club are said to be "optimistic" about their chances of signing him.
That's according to L'Equipe, which had its front page relayed by Sport Witness on Tuesday:
Sport Witness provided more details from the story, noting that PSG also have a major interest in signing Mbappe's team-mate at Monaco, Fabinho:
"Madrid, Man City, Liverpool, and Arsenal all credited with Mbappe interest by today's L'Equipe. PSG not close to signing either player.

Mbappe, 18, rose to prominence in sensational style for Monaco last season, helping the team edge out the Parisians in the Ligue 1 title race.
It's no surprise he's attracted interest from the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Madrid.

As a young Frenchman, the striker will be of interest to PSG should he become available. And it appears as though the club are doing some early groundwork in an attempt to pave a way for him to head to the Parc des Princes.
Monaco don't appear to want to let Mbappe depart without a fight, though. As noted by Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports News HQ, it's been reported the principality outfit are ready to offer the striker a massive pay rise:
Mbappe has earned it. During the 2016-17 season, he transformed from an impact player off the bench into the man head coach Leonardo Jardim would look to in the big games.
When the pressure was on Monaco as they sought to clinch the Ligue 1 title, Mbappe conjured some inspiring moments and netted vital goals. Additionally, in the UEFA Champions League, he struck against Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus as Les Monegasques made an impressive run to the semi-finals.
Per WhoScored.com, his productivity in the final third was only bettered at the highest level by Barcelona's Lionel Messi:
Pace, power, intelligence and fearlessness; Mbappe channels all the attributes that make supporters edge forward on their seat.

Teams need other qualities to flourish, though, such as steeliness, physicality and tenacity, traits Fabinho showcased on a consistent basis for Monaco last season. Subsequently, it's easy to see why PSG are making a sustained effort to lure him to the Parc des Princes, too.
Monaco have been a selling club in recent seasons and built the 2016-17 title-winning side on the back of lucrative departures and smart acquisitions. However, letting two of their most important players join PSG—regardless of the amount they are willing to pay—would undermine the progress the club have made.
