Pacquiao vs. Horn Rematch: Pros and Cons of Pac-Man vs. The Hornet 2
Jeff Horn shocked the world of boxing on Sunday, as the little-known Australian took the WBO welterweight title off future Hall of Famer Manny Pacquiao in front of his home crowd in Brisbane, Australia.
The Hornet won via a controversial unanimous decision, with the overwhelming majority of fans and pundits disagreeing with the scores of 115-113, 115-113 and 117-111. Pac-Man was the busier fighter throughout the bout and landed far more shots in every single category, as shared by ODDSbible:
Horn was even wobbled in the ninth, with the fight on the verge of being stopped. The 29-year-old did a sensational job of surviving, but his courageous attitude will be overshadowed by the curious decision from the judges.
Here's a look at some reasons for and against a rematch.
Pros
The most obvious argument for a rematch is the clause Pacquiao insisted on in case of a Horn win, per Brian Mazique of Forbes. As shared by Nine News Australia, the veteran wasted little time telling reporters the rematch will take place:
Pac-Man has insisted on avenging his losses quickly in recent years, fighting Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez repeatedly between 2011 and 2014. The first rematch with Desert Storm had to wait for almost two years, but Pacquiao only fought twice in that span, against Marquez and Brandon Rios.
Money is key to making any fight happen in the boxing world, and per Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, plenty was earned on Sunday, with Pacquiao taking in a guaranteed $10 million. Horn was only guaranteed $500,000 and could make tons more as the champion in a rematch.

Said rematch likely won't take place in Brisbane. Pacquiao has fought almost exclusively in the United States and Macau the last few years, where the market for pay-per-view deals is much more attractive, and an even bigger purse could be on the table.
Cons
Does anyone want to see this fight again? So far, 2017 has been a banner year for the sport, with plenty of great title fights. From Anthony Joshua's win over Wladimir Klitschko to Keith Thurman's defeat of Danny Garcia, fans have enjoyed action-packed bouts.

There's more to come still, with Gennady Golovkin finally taking on Saul Alvarez and Naoya Inoue making his debut on American soil against Antonio Nieves. Away from the title fights, there will be tons of hype surrounding Floyd Mayweather's return against Conor McGregor.
In the midst of all that, fans watched Horn clinch and head-butt his way to a decision win just about everyone questioned. Even greats from other sports couldn't believe what they saw:
Pacquiao's power vanished years ago―the 38-year-old hasn't knocked anyone out since 2009―and while he's still an exciting fighter to watch, he no longer has the ability to carry a card by himself. Horn's win elevates his status tremendously, but he'll now be expected to prove himself against a fighter in his prime, away from his hometown.
Pac-Man doesn't appear ready to hang up his gloves yet, but at 38 years of age, with his fearsome knockout power a distant memory, perhaps he should. While Horn deserves credit for making it through the fight, a boxer of Pacquiao's caliber should have stopped him. If Pac-Man couldn't do it on Sunday, one has to question if things will be different in four or five months.
