Timothy Bradley Mistakenly Says Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn Fight Is in Argentina
While calling Jeff Horn's shocking victory over Manny Pacquiao on Sunday, boxer and ESPN announcer Timothy Bradley said the bout was in Argentina.
The fight actually took place at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia, as Horn scored a controversial, unanimous-decision win in front of his countrymen.
Bradley's 2012 win over Pac-Man was eerily similar to Horn's, and ESPN's Ian O'Connor credited Bradley with pointing out that a Horn victory was a possibility despite his slip-up:
The 33-year-old Bradley previously fought Pacquiao on three occasions, posting a 1-2 record.
While Bradley was quickly corrected by his broadcast partners after declaring the fight was occurring in a South American country, it was one of many memorable moments during what was a wild, unpredictable fight.
Pacquiao likely did enough to win the bout based on the punching statistics provided by ESPN Stats & Info:
He couldn't finish off Horn when he had the opportunity, however, which left the door open for something unexpected.
Pac-Man had experienced that before against Bradley, and his inability to score knockouts in recent years haunted him again.
Those who oppose the decision may suggest home-country bias came into play, so Pacquiao likely wishes the fight took place in Argentina rather than Australia, as Bradley said.
