Jared Goff Says Derek Carr's Contract 'Great' for Young QBs
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff told reporters Tuesday that Derek Carr's record-breaking $125 million contract is "great" for young signal-callers who will be looking to cash out a few years down the line.
"Awesome to see that happen to a guy like him in this league," Goff said, according to the Los Angeles Times' Gary Klein. "Obviously, great for guys like myself and younger quarterbacks."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Simply based on the progression of NFL economics, Goff is right.
As the salary cap has increased year-over-year, so have average annual salaries. Quarterbacks have reaped the rewards of that financial boom, with players like Carr, Andrew Luck, Carson Palmer and Drew Brees ranking atop the NFL's average annual salary chart at quarterback with payouts in excess of $24 million.
In order for Goff to enter that esteemed tier, he'll have to start flashing the chops that made him the No. 1 overall pick a year ago, and fast.
During a turbulent rookie season, Goff completed 54.6 percent of his passes for 1,089 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions over the course of seven starts.
In fact, Goff was so shaky that he posted a league-worst DVOA of minus-45.2 percent when passing against no pressure last season, according to Football Outsiders. That mark also ranked as the worst among all quarterbacks since 2010.
But now that the Rams have cleaned house and installed offensive savant Sean McVay as their new head coach, Goff should be able to erase memories of his woeful rookie campaign and make developmental strides with big money in his sights at the end of the decade.
