The Butler, Georgia, native is also the second-ranked tailback in the state thanks to his quick feet, stellar vision and soft hands.
And while Dixon was offered by other high-profile programs like Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame and Oklahoma, he cited the "family atmosphere" at Tennessee when discussing what led him to Knoxville.
"I felt like that was the place," Dixon said, per 247 Sports' Ryan Callahan. "I've kind of been leaning toward them for a while, (since) a couple weeks before Orange Carpet Day.
"I just like the family atmosphere. When I went to 'Orange Carpet Day,' I was seeing everybody being there for each other, seeing the coaches' kids running around, having a good time. That kind of put in my mind that they have a family atmosphere."
Now officially committed to the Volunteers, Dixon represents another key cog in a backfield that was bolstered in a big way during the 2017 recruiting cycle with the additions of Ty Chandler and Trey Coleman.
The stacked nature of Tennessee's depth chart means Dixon may have to fight for playing time as a freshman, but he has the pure physical skills necessary to burst on the scene sooner rather than later.
