Martin Perez Injures Thumb in Accident with Hotel Door; Next Start in Question
Texas Rangers pitcher Martin Perez is in danger of missing his next start after he suffered a small fracture in the tip of his right (non-throwing) thumb and had the nail torn off following an accident at the team's hotel.
According to the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant, Perez was spotted with a padded splint on his thumb Friday.
Grant also spoke to club officials who said Perez's next scheduled start on Wednesday is "in jeopardy."

However, the southpaw was adamant he will be on the bump Wednesday when the Rangers take on the Cleveland Indians.
"My bullpen is [Saturday], and I'm going to throw it," Perez said, per Grant. "And I'm not going to miss a start. As long as I can hold on to my glove and kind of defend myself, I am going to pitch."
Through 15 starts this season, Perez is 4-6 with a 4.70 ERA, 1.652 WHIP and 6.7 strikeouts per nine innings.
