Odell Beckham Jr. Says He Feels Ready for 2017 Season After Skipping OTAs
New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. feels better heading into the 2017 NFL season than he's ever felt before, despite skipping the team's organized team activities during the offseason.
On Sunday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com passed along comments from Beckham, who couldn't remember a time he felt more ready for a new season.
"I don't think so," he said. "I think this might be the most [I've been ready] in my lifetime. In every which way, I just feel it there. ... I've really been training, and to have these next six weeks to get another opportunity to train, it's going to be great.

"Just like you said — mentally, physically, spiritually, everything. I don't think I've been as ready as I am now."
The 24-year-old three-time Pro Bowl selection returned to the Giants last week for mandatory minicamp after opting against the voluntary portion of the workout schedule.
ESPN's Adam Schefter previously reported the star's decision to skip the OTA sessions was "directly related to the wide receiver's desire for a new contract."
Beckham will be one of the league's biggest bargains this fall if he doesn't receive a new deal. He's slated to make just over $1.8 million in base salary with a cap hit near $3.3 million. His fifth-year option for 2018 is worth almost $8.5 million before he could potentially become a free agent, per Spotrac.
Giants co-owner John Mara hopes the situation doesn't reach a stage where the dynamic playmaker can hit the open market, though. He confirmed the sides haven't started negotiations about a new deal, but his long-term outlook remains firm, per Art Stapleton of The Record.
"Obviously we want him to be a Giant for the rest of his career," Mara said in early June.
Beckham caught 101 passes for 1,367 yards and 10 touchdowns during the 2016 season. He's reached at least 1,300 yards and double-digit TDs in all three of his NFL seasons since the Giants made him the 12th overall pick in the 2014 draft.
In addition, New York signed fellow wide receiver Brandon Marshall to provide support in the passing game, which should create more one-on-one opportunities for the LSU product in 2017.
