Victor Martinez Released from Hospital After Irregular Heartbeat Diagnosis
Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said designated hitter Victor Martinez was released from hospital Saturday after he was admitted with irregular heartbeat, per Jason Beck of MLB.com.
Beck noted Martinez will be monitored for seven to 10 days and will not undergo any activity for a week.
Martinez left Thursday's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays and was placed on the 10-day disabled list. According to Beck, the team called up John Hicks in a corresponding move.

Ausmus previously said this was "more scary than a general baseball injury," per MLB Network Radio.
Martinez is a five-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner and is slashing .261/.337/.376 with five home runs and 29 RBI this season. While he hasn't quite been the same dominant force he has so often been in his career, he is still an important cog in Detroit's lineup.
He drilled 27 home runs last year and gives the Tigers another power threat in the order alongside the likes of Miguel Cabrera, Justin Upton and J.D. Martinez.
Detroit is three games behind the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central and could use its designated hitter back and healthy as it pursues a postseason spot.
