Manchester United Transfer News: Alvaro Morata Fee Reportedly Held at £78M
Real Madrid will reportedly accept no less than €90 million (£78 million) for striker Alvaro Morata as negotiations with Manchester United have reached an impasse.
Miguel Delaney of The Independent reported the Red Devils had hoped to get a deal over the line by Tuesday after already agreeing terms with the player, but Real's demands over a fee are said to be posing an obstacle.
It's also mentioned in the report that Los Blancos "don't have an particular desire to sell Morata" with James Rodriguez already looking a likely departure, meaning United may be forced to shell out more than they'd hoped.

James Robson of the Manchester Evening News recently gave a breakdown of United's summer transfer plans and how Morata's prospective transfer ties into the club's spending:
Morata already has friendly faces at Old Trafford in international team-mates David De Gea, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera, while Argentinian duo Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero are also native Spanish speakers.
In the event Morata does remain at Real—the club that signed him as a youngster in 2008 and once again from Juventus last year—broadcaster Deji Kofi Faremi believes he'll have more chances to impress:
The Spain international has been frustrated behind first-choice striker Karim Benzema since returning to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but he still managed to amass an impressive tally of 20 goals in 19 starts last term.
And it happened to be United chief Jose Mourinho who gave Morata his first chance as a senior player after promoting him from the Castilla academy while at Real. According to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol, the Portuguese could lend a crucial hand in recruiting the forward:
It's no secret forward reinforcements will be a priority for manager Mourinho this summer after a serious knee ligament injury brought an end to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's time at Old Trafford.
Los Merengues appear to be aware of the talent they have on their hands, and thus the fee they can charge for his signature, but after spending big in 2016, Morata may be deemed too rich for the Red Devils' blood.
