Lorenzo Mauldin 'Shocked' by Lawsuit from Man Alleging Nightclub Fight
New York Jets linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin said Tuesday he was surprised by a lawsuit filed by a man alleging he was punched by Mauldin at a night club.
"Of course, I was shocked," Mauldin said, via NJ.com's Darryl Slater. "But everything that's going on right now, it's pending. We don't know what the outcome is going to be. And you guys [reporters] can just refer to my attorney if you have any questions."
Larry Celona, Paul Schwartz and Bruce Golding of the New York Post reported Sunday Jean Lopez accused Mauldin of assault following an alleged altercation at the Highline Ballroom.

A Jets spokesman told the New York Post the team is "aware of the situation but [has] no further comment at this time."
Lopez's lawyer, Glenn Race, said in the lawsuit his client suffered "multiple maxillofacial fractures" in the alleged altercation.
Mauldin's attorney, Mitchell Schuster, told Newsday's Kimberley A. Martin in a phone interview the allegations against his client were "without merit," and the case against Mauldin will end after the plaintiff speaks to "the witnesses involved and discovery is conducted."
Mauldin was a third-round draft pick by the Jets in 2015. He has recorded 6.5 sacks in 26 games over two seasons in the NFL.
