Nationals GM Mike Rizzo Tells Buck Showalter to 'Quit Whining' About Rainout
Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter should "quit whining" about a makeup game the teams played Thursday after a storm system that never rolled through the nation's capital prematurely postponed their May 11 showdown.
According to the Washington Post's Barry Svrluga, remarks from Showalter about the weather for Thursday's game, which the Nationals won, 6-1, prompted Rizzo's comments.
"I think it's marginally better tonight," Showalter said of the clear weather before Thursday's game.

Rizzo, though, said Friday that Showalter agreed canceling the May 11 game was in each club's best interest.
"It rained all day that day, and the forecast said it would rain until 9:30 or 10," Rizzo told Svrluga. "I sat in Buck's office at 6:30, and we talked about it for 20 minutes. He was 100 percent on-board. He didn't say anything about not canceling the game.
Rizzo also had harsh words for the Orioles after the Nationals won Thursday's makeup game following a flight from Los Angeles the night before.
"Their GM [Dan Duquette] was nowhere to be found for three, four hours," Rizzo said. "We wanted to play the next [mutual off] day. They refused to play then, so the next [mutual] day was [Thursday]. They drove 32 miles to get there. We flew 3,000 [expletive] miles, and we beat their [behinds]. So quit your whining. Quit whining."
