Eric Decker to Be Released or Traded by Jets After 3 Seasons with Team
The New York Jets will continue their rebuilding plan by letting go of veteran receiver Eric Decker.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team will release or trade him this week.
Decker's wife, country singer Jessie James Decker, confirmed the news Tuesday with a goodbye message on Twitter:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan told Decker the team will move on without him if a trade can't be made, per Kimberley A. Martin of Newsday.
"It's a difficult decision to make and there's never an ideal time for it," Macaggnan said. "We are focused on building this team for the future."
Decker only appeared in three games in 2016 due to hip and shoulder injuries, but he had two years remaining on his initial five-year contract.
The Jets have already made several roster moves this offseason to get younger, most recently cutting linebacker David Harris on Tuesday, per ESPN.com's Rich Cimini.
Harris' release made Decker's wife uncertain about his future. "Apparently no one is safe," she tweeted earlier Tuesday. "Fingers crossed."
Her fears ended up coming to fruition, as the 30-year-old is now out of a job. Per Spotrac, he was due to make $7.25 million this upcoming season. By releasing him, the team saved $5.75 in cap space. The Jets now have a lot of offensive production to replace after also losing Brandon Marshall to the New York Giants in free agency.
While 2016 didn't go well for Decker, he is just one year removed from tallying 80 catches for 1,027 yards and 12 touchdowns. He had three 1,000-yard campaigns over the past five years, and he's pulled down double-digit touchdowns three times over that span as well.
If he checks out medically, it shouldn't take Decker long to find a new home.
