Angela Lee, the Fastest Rising Star in Women's MMA, Easily Wins Her Latest
Perhaps the best female fighter not competing in the USA notched yet another win on Friday morning.
Angela Lee defended her ONE Championship atomweight strap inside of two rounds by defeating Istela Nunes.
Lee, at just 20-years-old, has risen to the top of her field. The lifelong martial artist has a decorated career. She won national and world pankration titles in the junior divisions. She won the Hawaiian high school state wrestling title in 2013 before making her amatuer MMA debut in 2014.
In 2016, Lee captured her first MMA world championship with a decision over Mei Yamaguchi.

Lee got an early takedown against Nunes in the first round. As Nunes tried to stand, Lee got her back in a scramble. Lee applied rarely seen twister, but Nunes was avoiding being torqued. Instead, Lee simply pelted her repeatedly with punches to the face. Lee ran up the score with the punches to end the first round.
Lee did not throw many strikes as she was looking to get the clinch again in the second round. Patience paid off, and Lee was able to put Nunes back on the canvas. Nunes was getting back to her feet when Lee went for an anaconda choke.
Nunes fought it off for as long as she could, but Lee’s squeeze tightened and forced the tap.
The performance was systematic. Lee cut off the cage, grabbed Nunes, took her down and looked for submissions. The official time of the end was 2:18 of the second round.
On the mat Nunes was simply outmatched. Lee was able to find submissions to attack with to bring an end to the contest. The victory moved her perfect record to 8-0.
Lee continues to shine and these performances will only make fans clamor to see her compete in the famous eight-sided cage known as The Octagon. Lee has nothing but time and opportunity to become the next big thing in combat sports.
